Personal:

I used to run competitively, and maybe I will do so again someday.  Right now I am primarily running to try and get in better shape, and to maintain both physical and emotional health, but also for the simple joy that comes when I run.

I am also the proud daddy of five little ones.  I love the opportunity that I have to be a daddy, and my challenge is to balance my family responsibilities with work and running.

I ran to school in Crocs this morning.  I decided to finally take the plunge and buy some.  I got a pair for $15 at the Crocs outlet store here in Vegas.  On the good side, they are very light, and I think the cushioning is adequate for someone who wants to be close to barefoot without wanting to go all the way.  On the bad side, I needed to buy them a size too small so that they wouldn't fall off of my feet, and the right shoe had a strap that was just a little smaller than on the left, and it took about 7 miles before it finally started to feel a little more comfortable (whereas up until that point it felt like my toes were being jammed into the front of the shoe).  The plastic hinge also was digging into my foot, and it left a red mark on the right foot, and a blister on the left.  Maybe Crocs will make a shoe in the near future that is a little more running friendly, as there is potential, but right now they take a little getting used to.

PM:  6 miles at the group run put on by the village runner, as Kimia picked me up at school.  My right calf felt pretty tight at the end, and was a little sore afterwards.

Good run, but why Crocs?

I have that same problem with crocs, even walking in them I feel like my toes are being jammed. Haven't tried running in them yet.
