Personal:

I used to run competitively, and maybe I will do so again someday.  Right now I am primarily running to try and get in better shape, and to maintain both physical and emotional health, but also for the simple joy that comes when I run.

I am also the proud daddy of five little ones.  I love the opportunity that I have to be a daddy, and my challenge is to balance my family responsibilities with work and running.

Just 4 miles easy this morning.  I ran a couple strides during the run.  Total time was 29:22.  I am starting to get a little anxious with the marathon coming up on Saturday.  Partly from the taper, and partly just because I haven't finished a marathon since St George 2009.  It almost feels like I am debuting at the distance all over again.

So, you learn new things every day, but I guess you don't always have to be glad that you learned something.  Today I learned that when you step on a bee while barefoot and the stinger gets you right in one of your toes, your body rushes lots of blood to the area and the toe gets hot even when the other toes are cold.

Interestingly enough, I stepped on a bee while running barefoot a couple of days before TOU 2009. I hope that is not a bad omen :-)

There's no such thing as bad omens Sasha. Or Karma. Or the Force.
