Personal:

I used to run competitively, and maybe I will do so again someday.  Right now I am primarily running to try and get in better shape, and to maintain both physical and emotional health, but also for the simple joy that comes when I run.

I am also the proud daddy of five little ones.  I love the opportunity that I have to be a daddy, and my challenge is to balance my family responsibilities with work and running.

I have not blogged in a long time.  I haven't run in a while either, although I have run more recently than I have blogged.  I have been biking a lot over the last few months, so I have been active, I just haven't been running much.

I have wanted to start running some again, but unfortunately I got into a bike wreck last Wednesday (the chain slipped while I was riding hard up a hill in an effort to get to class on time and the resultant torque was too much for me to stay upright) and my ribs, right knee, and right arm have been bothering me ever since.

I finally felt well enough to try running today, so I went out for about 30 minutes this morning (I am calling it 4 miles, but I suspect it may have been a little bit less than that).  I felt decent while running, other than the pain from the strained intercostal muscle in my ribs, but unfortunately my knee started to bother me after I finished.  I guess that I must need to give the knee a little more time to heal.

I may try running again in another couple days, but I will limit myself to about 10 minutes or so to make sure that I don't have knee pain after finishing.  Once there is no pain I will try to increase the duration.  I really have missed running over the last while, and in time I hope that I am able to get back to the point that running daily is no longer a hurdle.
