Personal:

I used to run competitively, and maybe I will do so again someday.  Right now I am primarily running to try and get in better shape, and to maintain both physical and emotional health, but also for the simple joy that comes when I run.

I am also the proud daddy of five little ones.  I love the opportunity that I have to be a daddy, and my challenge is to balance my family responsibilities with work and running.

I ran with Sasha this morning at Grandview park.  Afterward I ran a few more laps around the field, and then ran home, ran a mile loop near my house, and then ran to Kimia's work to pick up the car.  Total of 15 miles in 1:47:57.  While running with Sasha we picked up the pace for about 2 miles (5 laps) running the last lap in 2:06.

On a side note, which is completely non running related but definitely more exciting than the mundane text that comprises my daily workouts, my wife Kimia is pregnant!  She is due on the 23rd of March, so she is almost 13 weeks along now.  We are excited to be able to finally start our own family.

I ran 10 miles with Sasha on the grass this morning.  Most of it was easy, but I threw in a faster portion for good measure.  It felt harder than it should have, but not too bad.

PM: I ran home from work again, and then added a little extra to finish 4 miles in just over 30 minutes.

I ran the 5 mile tempo today.  I ran the first mile and a half with Sasha, and ran the rest of it alone.  Total time of 26:57 for the tempo.  Not very good considering the effort I had to put in to get the time.  I have been sick, but I was feeling a little better so I decided to push the pace a little more than normal on the tempo in order to get a feel for how recovered I am.  Not as much as I was hoping for.  Starting out I hit a 5:39 for the first mile, and it felt way too hard.  I then focused on running smooth and not pushing the pace too hard, and I sped up until I was hitting right around 5:20 pace, sometimes a little slower, sometimes a little faster.  I maintained this until the end, but to a certain degree I felt like I was fading a bit.  This should not be happening when just two Saturdays past I ran a 15 mile tempo, hitting the last 5 miles in 26:40 with a 5:10 last mile, without running all out.  Anyhow, it makes me glad that I decided not to run TOU this year, and instead decided to head back to St. George again.  Hopefully I will get over whatever it is that is slowing me down soon.  1:07:XX for 10 miles.

I felt like I am starting to get over whatever illness I have had recently.  I ran 6.1 miles hard averaging 5:44 during that stretch.  Total time for the run was in the high 1:40's
