Personal:

I used to run competitively, and maybe I will do so again someday.  Right now I am primarily running to try and get in better shape, and to maintain both physical and emotional health, but also for the simple joy that comes when I run.

I am also the proud daddy of five little ones.  I love the opportunity that I have to be a daddy, and my challenge is to balance my family responsibilities with work and running.

I ran to school today, and ran intervals of "1600", "1200", "800", "400", plus a little extra at the end (.1 mile?).  The 1600 was a little short, so I will call it .9 miles (4:41), with the 1200 just being 4:00 hard.  The 800 and 400 were probably pretty close to being accurate for distance, but I can't say for certain.  I threw the extra .1 in at the end to give myself an even 2.5 miles of speed work since the 1600 was short.

I was late leaving school to come home, so I ended up running sub 6:00 pace for about 3.5 miles to get home a little quicker.

I hear your dad signed you up for the Mesa Mi Amigos Turkey Trot. That's a big one. Should be some good competition. How long are you going to be in town?

I will just be in town for Thanksgiving (Late Wed through Sun). Who knows how I'll do in the turkey trot, as it will be less than 3 weeks post marathon. If the race is really fast I may just not go all out if I don't feel up to it. But... that is not in my nature, so I will probably go all out even if I am not feeling my best.

Hmm...the winning time last year was 32:22. That should be well within your reach. I'm not familiar with the course having never ran it. I usually run a 5k with my old stake, but hopefully I can come out and watch after I'm done. Let me know if you want to go on a recovery run Friday or Saturday. I'm sure JamesW would join us, too.
